    Who we are

The Doula Club and Ready Birth Go are run by Carly Sandland, a sole trader based in London. Carly is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. That means she decides how it's used and is responsible for looking after it.

If you have any questions about your information, use our contact form.

    What we collect

    • When you contact us or fill in a form on this site: your name, email address and anything you choose to tell us.
    • When you request the birth prep checklist or sign up for updates: your email address.
    • When you book a call and when we talk: your contact details, your due date, where you're planning to give birth, your preferences and budget, and anything about your pregnancy, health or circumstances you choose to share.
    • If you work with us: details of the doula you choose, payments and our correspondence.
    • If you're a doula joining our network: your contact details, experience, qualifications, location, availability and fees.
    • When you visit this site: if you accept analytics cookies, information about how you use the site. See "Cookies" below.

    Information about your health

Details about your pregnancy, health and birth are a special category of personal information under UK data protection law. We only collect and use them with your explicit consent, and only to find and support the right doula for you. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

    How we use your information

    • To reply to you and provide the services you ask for.
    • To match you with doulas. With your agreement, we share the relevant details of your needs with the doulas we shortlist for you.
    • To send you the checklist and, if you've signed up, occasional emails. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
    • To manage bookings, payments and our records, including for tax.
    • To understand how the site is used and improve it, but only if you accept analytics cookies.

We rely on your consent, on the need to take steps you've asked for or to provide a service you've agreed to, on our legal obligations (such as keeping tax records), and on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business where that doesn't override your rights.

    Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We only share it with:

    • The doulas we shortlist for you, with your agreement. Once you're in touch with a doula, they'll hold your details too and be responsible for them.
    • Services that help us run the business: website hosting and forms (Lovable and Supabase), file storage (Google Drive and Dropbox), email, call booking (Calendly), our course and community platform (Mighty Networks), payment providers and Google Analytics. They handle information on our behalf.
    • Anyone we're legally required to share it with.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad, it's protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract clauses.

    How long we keep it

    • Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to two years after we last hear from you.
    • Client records: six years after our work together ends, for tax and legal reasons.
    • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
    • Analytics data: two months.

    Cookies

We use analytics cookies from Google Analytics to understand how people use this site, such as which pages are visited. They're only set if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. We don't use advertising cookies.

You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. We also store your cookie choice in your browser so we don't ask you again.

    Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it's used, to receive it in a format you can take elsewhere, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Use our contact form and we'll respond within one month.

    Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

    Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes, and the date at the top will show when it was last updated.
